Description
Telmisartan (Micardis-Cresar) 80 mg tablet is a receptor antagonist of angiotensin II that is used alone or along with other medicines to help reduce blood pressure by calming blood vessels.
Telmisartan is often used in adults to avoid and minimize the risk of heart disease or stroke and those who have a high chance of having it.

How To Take Telmisartan (Micardis – Cresar) 80 mg Tablet
This medicine may be taken with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day.
Telmisartan must be taken regularly for it to be effective. Continue taking this medicine even when you feel better. Do not stop taking it unless instructed otherwise by the doctor, as stopping it suddenly may worsen your condition.
Take Telmisartan exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
Dosage of Telmisartan (Micardis – Cresar) 80 mg Tablet
Hypertension: Initial: 40 mg once daily, may be adjusted to 20-80 mg once daily according to clinical response. Maximum: 80/day.
Cardiovascular risk reduction: 80 mg once daily.
Missed Telmisartan (Micardis – Cresar) 80 mg Tablet
If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your usual dosing schedule.
Do not double a dose under any circumstances.
Overdose
Signs of overdose may include the following:
- Hypotension
- Tachycardia
- Dizziness
- Bradycardia
- Elevated serum creatinine
- Acute renal failure
Seek medical help immediately.
Contraindications
People with the following medical conditions should not take Telmisartan:
- Biliary obstructive disorders
- Diabetes mellitus
- Renal impairment
- Severe hepatic impairment
- Pregnancy

Warnings of Telmisartan (Micardis – Cresar) 80 mg Tablet
Do not use Telmisartan in people with the following conditions:
- Blocked bile duct
- Severe liver disease
- Pregnancy

How Does It Work?
Telmisartan produces its blood pressure lowering effects by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to AT1 receptors, thereby reducing the aldosterone-secretion and sodium reabsorption vasoconstriction caused by angiotensin II.

Take special precautions if you have the following conditions:
- Patient with aortic or mitral stenosis
- Obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
- Ischemic cardiopathy
- Unstented unilateral or bilateral renal artery stenosis
- Ascites due to cirrhosis
- Refractory ascites
- Patients undergoing major surgery or during anesthesia
- Black race
- Mild to moderate hepatic and renal impairment
- Lactation
- Avoid alcohol
Storage Conditions
- Store at 25°C. Protect from light and moisture.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
- Do not use Telmisartan that is expired or out of expiry date.
