Description
Valacyclovir (Valclovir) 1000 mg tabs is a polymerase nucleoside analog inhibitor of DNA. It is an antiviral medication used to control and treat herpes infections. Each tablet contains 1000 mg of the active ingredient Valacyclovir.
Valaciclovir is rapidly nearly entirely converted to aciclovir, then transformed by a virus-specific enzyme thymidine kinase (TK) to acyclovir monophosphate, and further modified by other cellular enzymes to acyclovir triphosphate. Aciclovir triphosphate competitively prevents the synthesis and replication of viral DNA by vying for viral DNA polymerase and being integrated into viral DNA with deoxyguanosine triphosphates.
Drug = Valacyclovir

How Does It Work?
Valaciclovir is rapidly and almost completely converted to aciclovir, then converted to acyclovir monophosphate by a virus-specific enzyme thymidine kinase (TK), then further converted to acyclovir triphosphate by other cellular enzymes. Aciclovir triphosphate competitively inhibits viral DNA synthesis and replication by competing with deoxyguanosine triphosphate for viral DNA polymerase and being incorporated into viral DNA.
