Description
Benzoyl peroxide is an organic compound used as a topical treatment for acne, either as a single agent or in combination with antibiotics. Each gel contains 2.5% of Benzoyl Peroxide as its active ingredient.

How to use
Benzoyl peroxide is available as a gel, cream, or as a lotion.
To use this medicine, follow these steps:
- Wash your hands.
- Clean and dry affected area before application.
- Apply a thin layer of Benzoyl peroxide on the skin. Rub gently until it disappears. Do not cover, wrap, or bandage the area unless instructed by the doctor.
- Wash your hands after using them.
- Replace the cap of the tube.
To help you remember to use benzoyl peroxide, use it at around the same time every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand.
Use benzoyl peroxide exactly as directed. Do not use more or less of it or use it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
Dosage of Benzoyl Peroxide (Persol Ac Gel) 2.5% Gel
Adult: Acne: As 2.5-10% preparation: Apply 1-2 times/day. May increase to three times a day if needed.
As a cleanser: Wash 1-2 times/day.
Decubitus/Stasis ulcers: As 20% lotion: Apply 8-12 hourly.
Missed Dose of Benzoyl Peroxide (Persol Ac Gel) 2.5% Gel
Just apply the missed dose and then continue with the regular dosing schedule.
Do not double the dose under any circumstances.
Overdose of Benzoyl Peroxide (Persol Ac Gel) 2.5% Gel
If you think you may have used Benzoyl Peroxide more than the usual dose, please immediately seek medical help.
Signs of overdose may include the following:
- Severe irritation

Potentially Fatal:
- Hypersensitivity reactions
Warnings
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are using any other medicines:
- Isotretinoin

How Does It Work?
Benzoyl peroxide decomposes to release free-radical oxygen that acts as a bactericidal agent that oxidizes the bacterial protein. It possesses mild keratolytic effect and antimicrobial activity that is active against Staphylococcus epidermidis and Propionibacterium acnes, the bacteria present in acne vulgaris.
