How To Take Cabergoline (Dostinex – Caberlin) 0.25 mg Tablet

This medicine should be taken with food or immediately after a meal. Try to take it at the same time each day.

Cabergoline must be taken regularly for it to be effective. Continue taking this medicine even when you feel better. Do not stop taking it suddenly as this may worsen your condition.

Take Cabergoline exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.

Dosage of Cabergoline (Dostinex – Caberlin) 0.25 mg Tablet

Inhibition of physiological lactation: 1 mg as a single dose on 1st day postpartum. 

Lactation suppression: 250 mcg 12 hourly for 2 days. Hyperprolactinemia-associated disorders: Initial: 0.5 mg/week, gradually increase by 0.5 mg/week at monthly interval until optimal response.

Monotherapy or adjunct therapy in Parkinson’s disease: Initial: 1 mg/day, gradually increase by 0.5-1 mg at 1 or 2 weeks interval. Recommended dose: 2-3 mg/day.

Missed Cabergoline (Dostinex – Caberlin) 0.25 mg Tablet

If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your usual dosing schedule.

Do not double a dose under any circumstances.

Overdose

Signs of overdose may include the following:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Gastric complaints
  • Postural hypotension
  • Confusion/psychosis
  • Hallucinations

Seek medical help immediately.

Contraindications

People with the following medical conditions should not take Cabergoline:

  • Uncontrolled hypertension
  • History of pulmonary, pericardial, and retroperitoneal fibrotic disorders

  • Concomitant use with dopamine antagonists

Warnings of Cabergoline (Dostinex – Caberlin) 0.25 mg Tablet

Do not take Cabergoline if you ever had an allergic reaction to similar medicines such as dihydroergotamine or ergotamine.

Do not use Cabergoline in people with the following conditions:

  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure
  • Heart valve disorder
  • Scarring or thickening of the heart or lungs
  • Lactation
