How Does It Work?

Exemestane is a irreversible, selective aromatase inhibitor that functions as the false substrate of the enzyme and forms an intermediate that binds to its active site. Inactivation or inhibition will avoid the conversion of androgens into peripheral tissue estrogens, thus reducing circulating estrogens in postmenopausal women with estrogen-dependent growth-dependent breast cancers.
