Description
Tadalafil (TADALAFIL 20) tabs is a phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitor that is commonly used for the treatment of erectile problems. This medicine also treats pulmonary hypertension, a type of high blood pressure affecting the arteries in the lungs.
Tadalafil works by directly inhibiting the type 5 (PDE5) phosphodiesterase enzyme, which is responsible for cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) smooth muscle metabolism. During sexual arousal, the inhibition led to a rise in cGMP levels, causing smooth muscle relaxation and increased blood flow to the corpus cavernosum of the penis, resulting in an erection. In the pulmonary vascular area, it also relaxes the smooth muscle, causing vasodilatation and decreased lung vascular resistance.

How Does It Work?
Tadalafil acts by selectively inhibiting the cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) metabolism in the smooth muscle. The inhibition resulted in a rise in cGMP levels, causing smooth muscle relaxation and increased blood flow during sexual stimulation into the penis, thereby creating an erection. In the pulmonary vascular bed, it also relaxes the smooth muscle, causing vasodilatation and decreased vascular pulmonary resistance.
