Description

Valacyclovir (Valclovir) 500 mg tabs is an analog inhibitor of DNA polymerase nucleoside, an antiviral drug used to control and treat various herpes infections. Each Valacyclovir tablet contains 500 mg as its active ingredient.

Valaciclovir is easily and almost fully converted to aciclovir, then converted by a virus-specific enzyme thymidine kinase (TK) to acyclovir monophosphate, and thus further transformed by other cellular enzymes to acyclovir triphosphate. Competitively, acciclovir triphosphate prevents viral DNA synthesis and replication by competing with deoxyguanosine triphosphate for viral DNA polymerase and its incorporation into viral DNA.

Drug = Valacyclovir
